Dear People,

Countless numbers of people have found enormous pain relief, safely, using cannabis. We hear about others who have successfully healed their cancers. To my and the entire industry’s knowledge, no one has ever died from using just cannabis. They might have had a terrible, not-soon-forgotten emergency room experience. But they haven’t died. Before the 1920’s-30’s, it was regularly prescribed in small amounts for pain and nervous disorders by family physicians. In the 30’s it became demonized by the Rockefellers and the nascent pharmaceutical industry, eventually making cannabis so illegal and propagandized as evil, people were jailed for the rest of their lifetimes just for having the tiniest amount in their possession. However, it must be used responsibly and with mindful purpose. Some cancers it might aggravate instead of heal. Some people have allergic reactions of various types using cannabis.

So, you see all the disclaimers scattered around my cannabis topics. I hear you. Many are in so much pain, are desperate for relief, and have been around the medical establishments’ merry-go-round so many times that the disclaimers no longer matter. But here on this site, please know that in any of my cannabis topics as you review them and might start doubting again, hold your despair at bay a bit. I want to let you know that even if cannabis also ends up being not for you, this site is loaded with tons of alternatives that so many others have successfully used to reduce their pains WITHOUT any cannabis at all, or with just the slightest amount one time a day. I so encourage you to continue to explore the rest. Perhaps you too will be one of those truly free from all the drugs! Please give yourself a chance.

Though traditionally, any list of cannabis side effects might apply, some people have an opposite effect of the expected. This is called the paradoxical effect.

Some traditional side effects include:

Euphoria/psychoactive (based on amount consumed and tolerance level) Some of this can ALSO happen with certain CBD doses.

Dizziness (also based on amount consumed and tolerance level, usually goes away after a couple weeks of taking small doses regularly) Some of this can ALSO happen with certain CBD doses.

Sleepiness, drowsy (same, based on the amount taken and a person’s tolerance levels), can negatively affect one’s motor skills and contribute to dangerous driving, and conversely, for most users of CBD, taking the usually recommended SMALL 25-30 mg doses of CBD-only, CBD-rich hemp cannabis can cause insomnia and WAKEFULLNESS.

Dry mouth (usually happens with higher amounts and with inhaling rather than eating it)

Red eyes (in higher doses)

Too much energy and insomnia (based on type and amount of cannabis consumed, CBD usually does this to most people consuming SMALL amounts!)

MENTAL issues:  Paranoia, anxiety, be fearful or panicked, cause you to lose touch with reality, hallucinate, be delusional, forgetfulness of even a personal identity, heighten any mental illness you might already have, trigger PTSD and depression episodes (based on type and amount consumed)

Overeating cannabis edibles can cause all these side effects combined, especially if the person is new to cannabis consumption.

Can cloud your senses and judgment and lower inhibitions

Could heighten your senses like making sounds louder

Can distort one’s sense of time

Could be harder for you to focus, learn and remember things (the forgetting effect, short term memory loss)

A person can get giddy, laughing a lot, or become overly quiet

If you use medical inhalers or smoke cannabis you could hurt or damage your lungs, irritate asthma, create coughing and excess mucous

Could increase your appetite (a good thing if you need to eat more or a bad thing when this becomes “the munchies”)

It could increase the heart rate, change blood pressure, aggravate any heart problems or stroke dangers.

It can be addictive, most often called “dependency on it” that is emotional as well as physical (usually because of high dose usage and use of newer hybrid concentrates and extracts in high dosages)

Attention to those who travel out of their legal state and through or to another non-legal state or country, please note most laws do NOT allow you to travel with your legal products away from your home, even if traveling from one legal state to another legal state. If you stop consuming any cannabis during your trip away, THC or CBD containing, etc., many people do experience withdrawal and you could have miserable travel experiences.

After consuming marijuana OR hemp CBD products for a longer term, sometimes even a few weeks or longer, and then stopping them, a person can experience withdrawal symptoms of headache, insomnia, nausea, diarrhea and the return of high levels of pain. Consuming CBD-rich products if you have been consuming marijuana amounts of THC during that time can help ease the withdrawal pains. However, even those consuming mostly CBD-rich products only, can experience withdrawal symptoms once they stop.

Withdrawal symptoms can also occur when taking tolerance breaks too infrequently.

Symptoms depend on amount and type of cannabis consumption and length of time since any last break.

A tolerance break is taking one to two days off per week when regularly consuming cannabis.

The break helps the body not need ever more cannabis to achieve the pain relief (or even high) expected.

Consuming regularly without taking some days off can often mean a person needs higher and higher doses over time for the same effect.

If the tolerance to THC gets to a level where relief is no longer offered even in high doses, some people have found success abstaining from any cannabis intake at all for 2-4 weeks to “reset” their endocannabinoid system.

In addition to the CBD to relieve withdrawal symptoms of THC use (and remember, withdrawal symptoms often occur when stopping the use of regular and daily CBD only products, not just THC products), taking daily aspirin, daily eating Peat’s carrot salad and clean real food and water helps immensely.

Allergies: Allergies are symptoms that happen when consuming particular formulations of cannabis products or ways of using the cannabis products.

Some people are unable to use any cannabis product of any kind as a salve on their skin for example without breaking out in eczema.

Others are allergic to specific strains or types of cannabis plants or one could have an allergic reaction to a moldy flower that is smoked or inhaled.

Some have allergic reactions to the other ingredients included in some cannabis preparations like tincture or salve base ingredients. Hemp oil as a base for example can exacerbate PUFA (polyunsaturated fatty acids) problems. Allergy symptoms can include these or other symptoms: IBS problems, stomach cramping, nausea, rashes, eczema, redness, diarrhea, breathing problems, hyperemesis

If you experience any symptoms that seem odd or strange or unexpected from the traditional “dizzy”, “euphoric-high”, “paranoia” etc. STOP consuming the cannabis.

If you feel you should check-in with an emergency room, go. AND TELL THEM WHAT YOU’VE BEEN DOING AND CONSUMING.

In most cases, all you need to do is sleep it off for awhile. But if you need more serious attention, be sure you have someone available to help you to medical care.

And following is a PDF that was published Dec. 22, 2015 by the Department of Health division of the government of the District of Columbia (Washington, DC). It can also be found on their website.

It’s a well written, easy to understand study conducted by several scientists and medical providers (MDs, RNs (including Mary Lynn Mathre, RN), PharmDs, PhDs and others) about possible adverse effects and several important drug interactions with cannabis.
