Dear People,

Countless numbers of people have found enormous pain relief, safely, using cannabis. We hear about others who have successfully healed their cancers. To my and the entire industry’s knowledge, no one has ever died from using just cannabis. They might have had a terrible, not-soon-forgotten emergency room experience. But they haven’t died. Before the 1920’s-30’s, it was regularly prescribed in small amounts for pain and nervous disorders by family physicians. In the 30’s it became demonized by the Rockefellers and the nascent pharmaceutical industry, eventually making cannabis so illegal and propagandized as evil, people were jailed for the rest of their lifetimes just for having the tiniest amount in their possession. However, it must be used responsibly and with mindful purpose. Some cancers it might aggravate instead of heal. Some people have allergic reactions of various types using cannabis.

So, you see all the disclaimers scattered around my cannabis topics. I hear you. Many are in so much pain, are desperate for relief, and have been around the medical establishments’ merry-go-round so many times that the disclaimers no longer matter. But here on this site, please know that in any of my cannabis topics as you review them and might start doubting again, hold your despair at bay a bit. I want to let you know that even if cannabis also ends up being not for you, this site is loaded with tons of alternatives that so many others have successfully used to reduce their pains WITHOUT any cannabis at all, or with just the slightest amount one time a day. I so encourage you to continue to explore the rest. Perhaps you too will be one of those truly free from all the drugs! Please give yourself a chance.

CBD Delta 8 Danger

DO BEWARE of using the new CBD Delta 8 (EIGHT) THC (rather than the original marijuana Delta 9 THC), the new “supposedly legal THC”.

Yes, CBD Delta 8 THC is a natural cannabinoid of cannabis, both hemp and marijuana cannabis, albeit a very tiny amount per plant.

It’s extracted in great quantities as a concentrate from a large amount of hemp.

Yes, it’s legal (for now) though some states including Colorado are outlawing it for its dangers and unknown ways of getting people high.

However, it’s a very tiny amount cannabinoid found naturally in this plant. Some innovating person discovered how to strip it out of a massive amount of hemp plants in large quantities a couple years ago—using all kinds of chemicals or not, who knows.

But it’s being extracted in a variety of different ways of extraction and with absolutely no research of its effects, side effects or others. There has been no research quantifying doses and what kind of high is involved.

For example, in the gummies photo attached to this article, the product contains 50 mg Delta 8 per gummie. If that amount was Delta 9 THC that was consumed in one dose like that, that’s enough to send someone to the ER. Especially someone not tolerating high dose Delta 9 THC on a regular basis. Is it the same high per dose with Delta 8?

No way to know, but the experiment trying to find out could be an event never to forget.

Is it psychoactive in a different way than regular Delta 9 THC (of which there have been decades of research and millennia of anecdotal use) and what does that look like, no one knows yet.

It’s such a small quantity component of the natural cannabis plant that not much research has been done on it.

Dr. Bonnie Goldstein in California has experimented with earlier versions of small amounts of licensed cannabis marijuana plant Delta 8 (Delta 8 is the same molecule, same cannabinoid whether extracted from marijuana or hemp cannabis) in California with a few of her patients.

However, the stuff coming out now, to sell nationwide legally because “it comes from CBD” (it doesn’t come from CBD, it comes from the cannabis plant,  hemp or otherwise) is a very unknown compound.

It might or not actually be the real Delta 8 in these products but instead some combined version of Delta 9. There is no regulation or home test to detect it.

Many new Delta 8 products have no certificate of analysis (though even if they did, there is a ton of fraud with those right now).

This mass produced Delta 8 is then sprayed as a concentrate onto CBD flower (who knows “how much” is sprayed on) and called “Delta 8 CBD flower” to smoke… or it is added as a concentrate to edibles like gummies and other.

And again, if Delta 8 is now smoked as a topping to a CBD flower bud as the choice way to consume it, what effect does heat and smoke do with the Delta 8 and the lungs, with the body as it processes such an unnatural amount.

Depending on the amount, and no one really knows a standard amount, it’s too new to tell long range effects, this stuff could really throw people for a loop.

Short range effects seem to be getting people as high as if they were using the regular euphoric Delta 9 THC or worse.

Anecdotally, my cannabis legal counsel attorney described an experienced high Delta 9 THC user who ingested/smoked some Delta 8 and “was knocked on their butt for quite a number of hours”.   Be careful.
